MultiLevel In 1 File Series on YouTube

I've uploaded some quickly produced video on my Maverick Method of constructing multiple levels in 1 file.  Done late into the night so I can hear myself fade to a whisper to ensure my wife doesn't spoil my foray into a media career for waking her up!

As well as MY YouTube channel itself I have also a side page here to list the video's available.
The Playlist for this series seems to mess the order up.

At the moment the sample file and lisp is only available by posting a comment here WITH your email (I will NOT publish and have not) and I will email to you.  Perhaps soon I will post them somewhere that you can just grab them anonamously.

cheers

I like the new look blob Nathan. Glad to see you haven't been forced onto revit as yet. I have and I'm not enjoying it.

Thanks James. The look is just selecting options the blog gives you which is great. I don't have to worry too much about it. Sorry you are not enjoying Revit. Some more BIG ideas have snapped into place lately on how to set things up so it would be a shame to have to leave all that knowledge behind as you have had to, to start again! Not sure I could cope with it really and ACA is very productive for us now. I do have some Q's on CWA's so perhaps I should ask you quick before you have forgotten it all!

Hi Nathan,

Great video, I am switching or moving up in the world from ACAD vanilla to Architecture. Your videos are very helpful and if possible, could you send me a copy of your sample file and lisp routine.

Musch appreciated,

Ant

Thanks, be good if it was helpful to you however unless you provide an email address I have no idea who you are. I will not publish on the blog, any comment that contains an email address. It will be deleted and I will send you the files.

Cheers

Hi,
I'd like to have a look at your sample files and lisp routines if possible.

Thanks in advance!

Happy to pass on Incanu7 but I have no way of contacting you. If you leave a message with your email address, I will not publish and can email you the files.

I'd appreciate getting a copy of your file.

I'm taking my second course in architecture and they seem to expect us to learn Autocad on our own. And I'm wondering why nobody seems to talk about drawing the second story so it shows up in elevation on top of the first. You're the only one who seems to do it that way, or am I missing something? Well, not sure of your time of day but meanwhile I guess I'll just do second floor walls. foors & windows in another layer & see what happens.

(One thing I can't seem to figure out though, is floors. I tried doing them as a mass but it won't let me make them small enough.)

Hi Hana Good luck with your studies.
You didn't leave your email address so I have published your comment but I can't send you a file. Leave your email and I won't publish it. Promise.

Are you using vanilla Autocad or Autocad Architecture which has the add-on 3D modelling package? My instructions are for ACA but actually the lisp for sorting levels just works on layers and works for a flat 2D drawing if you drawing levels over top of each other.
ACA is designed to use the Project Navigator which uses a separate file for each level (also you can separate the building into parts- ie wings, staircase, repeatable portions etc so it's worth learning the PN so you understand it's benefits. I just think it's overkill for a typical residential project and it creates extra problems resolved with a 1 file approach).

Floors are created using aecSlab objects or aecSpaces can also be used and are easier to edit on the fly but aecSlabs can have edge styles. aecMassElements can also be used but for each you need to override the style for specific componants. (ah so much to learn). Any CAD modelling package for buildings requires a lot of learning to master.

Just watched your MultiLevel In 1 File on YouTube . Like the way you control different views with lisps, and would like to receive your sample file. Thanks.

Thanks but I would need an email address.
I've published your comment here but if you comment again with your email address I won't publish it, I promise. :-)
